Jan 29 Spaghetti Fundraiser

Our most recent Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser was a huge success!

On Thursday, January 29, the Ellsworth School Department hosted a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser that reminded us all why we are "Ellsworth Strong." The mission was simple: come together to support 9th-grader Layla Downs and her family. The result? Nearly $5,000 raised in a single night!

The EEMS Cafeteria was packed last night – not just with the amazing smell of spaghetti and garlic bread – but with hundreds of community members gathering to show support for one of our own. We drew a near-capacity crowd, and it was dinner with a show as our EHS Jazz and Choir musicians filled the room with talented live performances.

While the food and the music were hits – the best part of the night was the people that packed the room. We had hundreds on hand, and raised $4911.50 in one night alone for Layla and her family!

"I am extremely proud of our Ellsworth community for pulling together to support a family that is deeply woven into our system," says Superintendent Amy Boles. "Students, staff, board members, and families came together to show their support for Layla and the family. They are extremely humbled and appreciative of the generosity of our community. We truly are better when we come together."

We are still collecting, too! Last night we had a display of amazing raffle prizes – gift baskets cultivated by our amazing staff and volunteers, a batch of $625 in gift cards to tons of local businesses, and a brand-new Giant brand Mountain Bike - $750 in value!

Anyone who is interested in entering the raffle or making a donation can do so through the EEMS office - give us a call at (207) 667-6241!

From the local businesses that donated raffle items to the families who came out to eat and cheer, thank you. You proved last night that when one of our own needs a hand, this community doesn't just show up—it brings the sauce, the music, and a whole lot of heart.
