EEMS Science Olympiad
It was quite the debut for the first ever Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School Science Olympiad team this past weekend!!

For the very first time, EEMS sent a team to compete in the Maine Science Olympiad Tournament at UMaine this past weekend – and our Falcons crushed it!! Besides having a fantastic time, our team came home with the third place medal, and each of the students competing won at least one individual medal!!

After hours of hard work, starting back in October, EEMS loaded up for the big competition – participating in 11 of the 23 possible events that included things like building a hovercraft, learning all about genetics and heredity, breaking codes, and studying the solar system! By the end of the day, the EEMS squad had captured a total of two gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal, proving that academic rigor and team spirit go hand-in-hand.

A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Beyer for her tireless leadership and the many long hours she spent coaching the team to this victory, alongside co-coach Mrs. Stackpole. The atmosphere in the auditorium was electric as the results were announced, and the team is already buzzing about next year. We are incredibly grateful for the hard work our staff puts in to give our amazing students opportunities for success!

Interested in joining the squad? If you love building, problem-solving, or discovering how the world works, stop by and talk to Mrs. Beyer or Mrs. Stackpole. They’ll give you all the info you need to get excited about science and help us defend our spot on the podium next season!
