Students in HCTC’s Business Leadership & Hospitality program recently wrapped up their Marketing unit with a creative, hands‑on project that brought strategy, design, and entrepreneurship together in a memorable way!
Our Year 2 students got to take on one of our favorite annual projects -- making their own Monopoly Board Games! Over the past several weeks, students developed fully customized Monopoly boards — each one themed, branded, and built from the ground up. As part of their coursework, students explored the 4 Ps of marketing, market segmentation, and color theory, then applied those concepts to every element of their game. Boards featured unique layouts, 3D‑printed tokens, and original Chance and Community Chest cards, reflecting each student’s creativity and understanding of marketing principles.

To conclude the project, students pitched their finished boards to a mock “Hasbro Board of Directors,” giving them the chance to practice professional communication and receive authentic industry feedback.

HCTC extends a heartfelt thank‑you to the community partners who served on the panel:
Hope High – HCTC Student Services Coordinator
Bradley Smith – Versant Power
Heather Seavey – Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
Taylor Mason – SkillsUSA National Staff
Cari Stiffel – Machias Savings Bank
Their time, expertise, and encouragement helped make this experience both meaningful and memorable for students. We love having our community members partner with us for hands-on learning and projects -- and this is just another example of that! Thank you to our board members, Mrs. Mason, and our awesome BL&H students for showing off not only their skill and creativity, but the pride they have in their work!
