The HCTC Culinary Arts program continued one of our favorite traditions this week, cooking a full Thanksgiving feast in partnership with our local VFW!

On Friday, three members from the Ellsworth VFW Post 109 visited the kitchen to connect with students and pick up the feast that our culinary team worked all week to prepare!

Ms. Frost and her students worked together to serve up an awesome spread to the VFW – and they’ll be feeding local veterans and seniors this Saturday at noon at their annual Thanksgiving dinner. Our HCTC crew pumped out 12 turkeys, 100 pounds of potatoes, 80 pounds of squash, seven hotel pans of stuffing, four gallons of gravy, pounds of peas, dozens of rolls, and – everyone’s favorite – 32 pies for dessert!!

The event was more than just a handoff—it was a moment of connection. Students and veterans shared smiles and pie boxes, as two generations came together for one great cause.

For students, the day was another chance to apply their culinary skills while giving back to the community in a meaningful way! This tradition is a highlight of the Culinary Arts calendar—a chance for students to apply their skills while giving back to the community.
The annual collaboration between the Culinary Arts program and the VFW reflects the school’s commitment to hands-on learning and impactful community engagement. By preparing the meal, students not only honed in on their culinary techniques but also experienced the pride of service and the power of gratitude.
As the VFW prepares to welcome guests for Saturday’s meal, the contributions of Ellsworth’s Culinary Arts students will be at the heart of the celebration—a true example of learning, service, and community coming together!
